โปรดอย่าถามว่าทำไมผมถึงไม่สอบ TOELF ที่เมืองไทย เอาเป็นว่าผมตอบให้เลยละกัน ผมคิดว่า ผมมีเวลาไม่เพียงพอที่จะเตรียมตัวสอบ iBT หรือ Internet-based TOELF เนื่องจาก Skill ที่ต่างออกไปจาก Paper-based คือ Speaking และ integrated skill แม้ว่าในเมืองไทยเราจะมีศูนย์สอบ Paper-based อยู่แต่มันก็เรียกว่าต้องจองกันข้ามปีเลยทีเดียว ก็เลยตัดสินใจกับเพื่อนว่า ไปสอบกันต่างประเทศที่มันยังมี Paper-based ให้สอบอยู่และถือโอกาสไปเที่ยวด้วยเลยละกัน หาไปหามาก็มาเจอที่ Kuala Lumpur - KL นี่แหละที่น่าจะเหมาะที่สุด กับเวลาเตรียมตัวอีกประมาณสองเดือน (ดูเหมือนเยอะ) และงานประจำทั้งประจำจริงๆ ประจำเพื่ออนาคต และชั่วคราวที่คล้ายประจำอีกมากมาย เฮ้อ...สุดท้ายแล้วก็เวลาไม่เยอะอยู่ดี ไม่ได้จะเอามาเป็นข้ออ้างแต่ที่ๆอยากไปเรียนก็ไม่เห็นมีที่ไหน Required TOEFL ตำ่กว่า 600 ซักกะที่ (นั่นแปลว่าการไปเรียนต่อเมืองนอกนั้นเป็นสิ่งไม่แน่นอน)

เดินทางจากเมืองไทยอย่างไรดี : เป็นครั้งแรกของผมอีกเช่นเคยครับ กับ Malaysia และยังเป็นครั้งแรกกับสายการบิน Low cost อย่าง AirAsia ด้วยสนนราคาเพียง 5,000 บาท (รวมค่าน้ำมัน ภาษี Service charge ทั้งปวงแล้ว) โดยส่วนตัวแล้วก็คิดว่าใช้ได้นะครับ สำหรับ AirAsia แม้้ว่าที่นั่งจะเล็กไปหน่อยสำหรับคนที่ตัวไม่เล็กอย่างผม แม้ว่าจะไม่มีอะไรให้กิน แต่เราก็ยังซื้อตุนไป แล้วก็ถ้าเป็นระยะทางใกล้ๆ ผมก็เทใจให้ไปพอสมควรครับ

เดินทางอย่างไรดีในมาเลเซีย : ถ้ามองในแง่ของ infrastructure หรือสาธารณูปโภคพื้นฐานอย่าง ถนนหนทางหรือการคมนาคมขนส่งมวลชน (Mass transportatation) แล้วผมว่าบ้านเรายังล้าหลังกว่า Malaysia เล็กน้อย แต่ถึงแม้จะเล็กน้อยผมว่ากว่าเราจะไล่เขาทันก็ไม่ต่ำกว่า 5 ปี แน่นอน จำได้ไหมครับว่าก่อนหน้านี้ผมพยายามเปรียบเทียบ infrastructure ของต่างประเทศอื่นๆแล้วก็อดสงสัยไม่ได้ว่าเมื่อไหร่บ้านเราจะไล่ตาม (เอาแค่ไล่ตามนะครับ ยังไม่ต้องนำหน้า) คนอื่นเขาทันเสียที Ok ครับเข้าเรื่องต่อดีกว่า สำหรับสถานที่สอบ TOEFL K825 นั้น คิดว่าถ้าไม่ได้ขับรถมาเองก็ต้องใช้ Taxi เท่านั้นครับ เนื่องจากไม่ได้อยู่ในใจกลาง KL วิธีการขึ้น Taxi ก็คือ ถามว่าใช้ Meter หรือเปล่าถ้าไม่ใช้ก็เลิกคุยกันได้เลย เพราะถ้าเขารู้ว่าเราเป็นนักท่องเทียวก็จะเหมือนฝรั่งไปเมืองไทยสมัยก่อน โดนราคาแบบมหาโหด ข้อนี้ผมว่าเมืองไทยเราดีกว่าครับ (เฮ...) ราคาเริ่มต้นเพียง 2 RM เรียกว่าถูกว่าบ้านเราด้วยซ้ำ เรื่องนำ้มันก็ไม่ต้องกังวลใจเพราะผลิตได้เองอยู่แล้ว ราคานำ้มันที่นี้ก็อยู่ประมาณ 20 กว่าบาทเท่านั้น แม้ว่า รถไฟฟ้าของเขาจะครอบคลุมทั่ว KL และมีหลายสายมาก ขึ้นครั้งหนึ่งก็สิบถึงยี่สิบกว่าบาท แต่เมื่อเทียบกับ Taxi แล้วส่วนใหญ่ผมก็เลือก Taxi ครับ ไม่ต้องเดินให้เมื่อยเลย

พักที่ไหนดี : ก็ขึ้นอยู่กับว่าคุณวางแผนอย่างไรหลังจากสอบเสร็จครับ เนื่องจากผมวางแผนน้อยไปหน่อย หาข้อมูลก็ไม่เรียบร้อย จึงเข้าใจผิดว่า ที่สอบน่าจะอยู่บนตึก MACEE เพราะถ้าเราไปค้น TOEFL Bulletin จะพบว่า K 825 Test Center นั้นจะเขียนเพียงว่า KL University College (ซึ่งมีมากมายหลายอันมาก) แต่ถ้าละเอียดรอบคอบอีกสักนิด อ่าน Admission Ticket ให้ดีจะพบว่ามันก็เขียนบอกอยู่เต็มตาแล้วว่าที่สอบคือ UCSI ไม่ต้องไปเดาเสียให้ยาก ผมกับเพื่อนทำงานกันเป็นทีมครับเพราะเราต่างก็ยุ่งกันทั้งคู่ เมื่อผมได้ที่สอบแล้ว (ซึ่งตอนนั้นยังเข้าใจว่าเป็น MACEE อยู่) เพื่อนผมก็จอง Hostel แถวนั้นให้ทันที ด้วยราคาที่ผมมาคิดตอนหลังก็ยังประทับใจ ประมารว่าต่อคนต่อคืนเพียง 300 บาท (ต้องยอบรับว่าที่นี่เขาบริการดีจริงๆ พนักงานให้การช่วยเหลืออย่างเป็นมิตรสุดๆไปเลย Hostel ชื่อว่า Equator Hostel ถ้าใคร Back Pack มาจะต้องชอบมากแน่นอน ) แต่สุดท้ายผมก็ไม่ได้อยู่ที่นี่อยู่ดี เนื่องจากระยะทางมันค่อนข้างไกลจากที่สอบ ใช้เวลาประมาณ 20 นาทีหรือมากกว่าถ้ารถติดและที่สำคัญที่ห้องมันก็มีแอร์นะครับแต่มันไม่เย็นเอาซะเลยห้องเล็กมากแต่เปิดแอร์ไปครึ่งเกือบครึ่งชั่วโมงมีแต่ลมออกมา ผมกับเพื่อนจึงตัดสินใจไปตายเอาดาบหน้าคือไปดูสถานที่สอบก่อนแล้วค่อยหาโรงแรมแถวนั้น สุดท้ายเราก็สามารถย้ายไปอยู่โรงแรมที่ใกล้ที่สอบมากขึ้น เดินทางน้อยกว่า 10 นาที แต่แพงขึ้นประมาณเท่าตัว ที่ใหม่นี้ชื่อ Caliber Hotel ครับ ราคา 140 RM (Ringkit Malaysia) หรือประมาณ 1,400 บาท
